Soeth Posts Best Finish at Firestone Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – Junior Sam Soeth had his best tournament ever as a Temple Owl, carding a one-under 214 to tie for fourth overall among the 87-player field at the Firestone Invitational. As a team, Temple tied for 12th in the 16-team field. The tournament was played at the par-72, 7,125-yard Firestone Country Club North Course.
Keys to the Match
> Soeth was three-over (75) for his final round. His fourth-place finish tied his best (2016 Cornell Invitational, but it was his first under-par tournament of his college career.
> Junior Trey Wren tied Soeth's final round (75) and placed second on the team and 21st overall with a four-over 220.
> Freshman Dawson Anders bounced back after a rough first day to record the best round by an Owl a one-over 73.
> Freshman Liam McGrath rounded out the Temple scorers with a five-over 77.
Tournament Notes
> Illinois State (-5) won the event, edging Cincinnati (-4) by one stroke. The Owls tied William & Mary at +32 and were one stroke behind George Mason and Akron, who tied for 10th.
> Austin Squires (Cincinnati) took home medalist honors with an eight-under while Elliott Grayson (Akron) was two shots back in second place.
> Redshirt sophomore Erik Reisner, playing as an individual, was Temple's third best finisher. He tied for 38th with a nine-over 225
