Fitzgerald Earns First Career Win at Jack St. Clair Memorial Invite

10.7.17 | Men's Cross Country

PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's cross country competed at the 10th annual Jack St. Clair Memorial Invitational on Saturday at Belmont Plateau and junior David Fitzgerald earned his first individual title as an Owl. Four student-athletes competed for the Owls: freshman Noah Curtin and juniors Fitzgerald, Tyji Mays, and Shane Ramdeo.

Keys to the Race
> Fitzgerald topped the field of 101 , completing the race in 26:53.5. The first-place finish at Belmont marks a career first for Fitzgerald.
> Next for Temple was Mays who finished the 8K with a time of 28:41.3 (7th). 
> Ramdeo crossed the finish line with a time of 29:50.3 (15th).
> Curtin rounded out the squad, finishing the race in 31:24.1 (28).

Race Notes
>   From 1976-1983 Jack Saint Clair served as the head coach of cross country and track and field at Temple University where he compiled a 104-32-1 record in Track & Field. Saint Clair is credited as the Belmont Plateau cross country course designer  (along with Lou Nicastro/Saint Joes, Frank Wetzler/LaSalle and Jim Tuppeny/Penn & Villanova).
