Volleyball Signs Five Recruits for 2018-19

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team will welcome five new members to the team for the 2018 season. The Owls have gotten national letters of intent from Peyton Boyd (Dumfries, Va.), Miray Bolukbasi (Istanbul, Turkey), Gem Grimshaw (Marco Island, Fla.), Tyler Lindgren (Windsor, Colo.) and Xeryah Salanoa (Honolulu, Hawaii).

PEYTON BOYD
> A 6-3 right side hitter from Dumfries, Va.
> Boyd plays club volleyball for Metro, having played on the Forest Park High School team for three seasons.

MIRAY BOLUKBASI
> A 6-1 outside hitter from Instanbul, Turkey, she attended Anabilim Anadolu High School.
> A two-time team captain for her school, she led her squad to the bronze medal in the Cup of Turkey.
> Bolukbasi has played with Vakifbank Volleyball Sport Club since 2014, and most recently competd at the Super Championships.
> She intends to major in Management Information Systems at Temple.

GEM GRIMSHAW
> A 6-1 outside hitter from Marco Island, Fla., she attends Seacrest Country Day School.
> Grimshaw had led her high school team to a pair of State Championship runner-up finishes.
> She earned All-Area team honors, won the Stingray Pride Award, and appeared as a 2016 Prep of the Week player.
> Grimshaw also played tennis and competed in swimming, earning varsity letters in both.
> She plays club volleyball with Florida Gulfside Volleyball Academy.
> Grimshaw, who has earned Excellence in World Literature honors, intends to be a Journalism major at Temple.

TYLER LINDGREN
> A 5-11 setter from Windsor, Colo., she attends Fossil Ridge High School
> She leads her high school team in assists and has a .278 hitting percentage.
> Lindgren led her team to the 5A State Championship in 2016, racking up 588 assists.
> A national-level player she earned the Girls' Junior National Championship USA All Tournament Team Award in 2017.
> Lindgren is also an accomplished beach volleyball player, qualifying for USAV Nationals three years in a row and AAU World Nationals the last two seasons.
> An honor roll student and a National Honor Society member, she intends to major in Biology.

XERYAH SALANOA
> A 6-0 middle/right side from Honolulu, Hawaii, she attends Punahou High School.
> Salanoa competed in 15's, 16's, and 17's Open Division for club ball.
> Her club Manoa Beach, was ranked the number one team in the state of Hawaii.
> An accomplished student with a 3.9 grade-point average, Salanoa intends to major in Kinesiology or Nursing.
