Ole Miss Heads to McGonigle on Saturday for WBB Clash

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team will look for its first 5-1 start since the 2009-10 season, hosting Ole Miss on Saturday. Action from McGonigle Hall tips off at 2:00 p.m. on OwlsTV. 

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Temple is 4-1 on the season, 2-1 at home and 1-0 on the road to start the year.
> Tanaya Atkinson leads the Owls, averaging a double-double of 23.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
> Freshman Mia Davis averages 10.4 points and 9.6 boards per game.
> Freshman Emani Mayo averages 9.2 points per game, while classmate Desiree Oliver averages 8.4 points and 3.2 assists.
> Freshman Breanna Perry and senior Khadijah Berger chip in with 4.8 points per game, while Berger dishes out 3.2 assists per game.
> As a team, Temple shoots 42.5% from the field and 26.0% from three.

LAST TIME OUT
> Temple opened the Big 5 season with a 69-52 win on the road at La Salle on Wednesday afternoon. 
> The Owls led by just four points at the break, but used significant runs in the third and fourth quarters to grab the win.
> Temple shot 51.5% (17-33) in the second half, and held a huge 48-28 advantage on the glass.
> Tanaya Atkinson tallied 21 points with seven rebounds, while Emai Mayo had 10 points with six rebounds.
> Davis scored seven points with a team-high nine rebounds, with Oliver chipping in seven points and a team-best five assists.
> Shannen Atkinson had six points and eight rebounds, both career highs.

SCOUTING OLE MISS
> Ole Miss is 4-1 to start the season, with their only loss coming to Saint Louis on November 17 (79-64). 
> The Rebels' offense has exploded for an averaged of 87.4 points per game and a +20 scoring margin.
> Ole Miss is in the top-20 nationally in shooting, averaging a 48.9 FG%.
> Four players average in double-figures for the Rebels, led by Madinah Muhammad's 24.6 points per game. She also averages 5.0 assists per contest.
> Shandricka Sessom adds 16.6 points per game, while pulling down a team-best 6.4 rebounds per game.
> Alissa Alston (13.7 ppg) and Promise Taylor (12.2) round out the double-figure scorers.

 > Ole Miss won a shoot out, 96-93, against Troy at home on Tuesday.
> The Rebels used a 46-12 scoring advantage in the paint to seal their fourth victory of the season.
> Alston scored a career high 26 points with six boards to lead Ole Miss.
> Muhammad put up similar numbers, with 24 points and six rebounds.
