Four from Volleyball Named to All-Conference Squad

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team was well represented on the list of American Athletic Conference awards. The Owls received four All-Conference selections - seniors Izzy Rapacz and Kyra Coundourides, junior Iva Deak, and redshirt freshman Dana Westfield, tying the 2014 squad for the most in program history.Â
IZZY RAPACZ
> Rapacz was named a unanimous selection to the All-Conference first team, the first Temple player to earn such distinction.
> The right side hitter is a three-time All-Conference selection, and a back-to-back first team selection.Â
> Rapacz led the Owls with 370 total kills, averaging 3.56 kills per set.
> In conference play, she increased her average to 3.82 kills per set, while hitting .275.
> Rapacz excelled as a six rotation player, racking up 2.90 digs per set against conference foes.
> She added 115 total blocks and 19 aces in 2017.
> Rapacz finished the regular season with 16 double-doubles.
Kyra Coundourides
> Coundourides was named to the American All-Conference team for the first time in her career.
> The Owls' primary setter, she racked up 1,046 total assists in the regular season.
> Against conference opponents, Coundourides dished out an average of 11.42 assists per set, a number that ranked her second in The American.
> The senior also excelled defensively, averaging 2.96 digs per set in conference play, ranking in the top 20.
> Adding to her impressive numbers, Coundourides totaled 61 kills, 16 aces, and 27 blocks.
> On the season, she tallied 16 double-doubles, tying her with Rapacz for the team lead.
Iva Deak
> Deak earns All-Conference honors for the first time in her Temple career.
> A starting middle for the Owls, she averaged 2.03 kills per set, including 2.23 per frame in conference play.
> Deak hit a team-best .338 against American opponents, ranking her fourth overall in the conference.
> One of Temple's top blockers, she racked up 100 total stuffs, ranking in the top 10 in the American.
Dana Westfield
> Westfield earns an All-Conference selection in her first season of action for the Owls.
> The outside hitter ranked in the top 15 in the conference in kills, hitting %, and total points.
> Westfield averaged 2.93 kills per set against American opponents.
> She hit .268 during the American regular season and averaged 3.14 points per frame.

> Temple will open play in the 2017 National Invitational Volleyball Championship on Tuesday.
