Cross Country Heads to NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals

PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's and women's cross country are set to compete at the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet on Friday, Nov. 10, hosted at Lehigh's Goodman Course in Bethlehem, Pa. The women's race will begin at 10:45 a.m. followed by the men's race at 11:45 a.m.

Scouting Men's Cross Country
> Men's cross country enters Friday's meet ranked No. 7 in the region bu the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), its highest ranking in the Mid-Atlantic Region in program history.
> On Oct. 28, Temple hosted the 2017 American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Belmont Plateau. On their home course, the Owls placed third overall with three runners finishing in the top-15 to earn All-Conference honors (Anton Harrsen, Marc Steinsbeger, and Kevin Lapsansky). Freshman Anton Harrsen was the squad's top finisher in eighth place. The championship marked men's cross country's highest-ever finish in the conference.
> Against a number of regional opponents at the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 14, the Owls finished fifth among the 21 teams led by Steinsberger who placed eighth overall.

Scouting Women's Cross Country
> Women's cross country will enter Friday's race ranked No. 13 in the region by USTFCCCA.
> In their last race, the Owls took a third place team finish at the American Cross Country Championships, another program best conference finish. Junior Katie Leisher was the the squad's top finisher in seventh place. Leisher, along with freshman Lucy Jones earned All-Conference Honors for their top-15 performances. 
> At the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 14, women's cross country also produced a decent performance among a host of regional opponents. The Owls finished sixth out of the 20 teams present with freshman Grace Moore clinching a top-10 finish.

Of Note
> In 2015, Blanca Fernandez won the women's 6K individual title at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet.
>  In 2012, Travis Mahoney won the region's men's 10K individual title.
