Men's Tennis Tops FDU With 5-2 Victory

PHILADELPHIA – In a Friday-night dual at the Upper Dublin Sports Center, Temple men's tennis topped the FDU Knights 5-2 for its third victory of the 2017 season. Artem Kapshuk and Florian Mayer each posted a doubles and singles win to the lead the Owls to a strong non-conference victory.

Kapshuk and Vineet Naran led off the doubles play with a win over Jake Whaley and Gonzalo Quintana, 6-2. Thomas Sevel and Mayer followed, topping Diogo Garnel and Pedro Carvalho, 6-4. Uladzimir Dorash and Francizo Bohorquez rounded out the doubles flights with a third Owl victory, topping Miki Nobuzawa and Billy Bourne 6-3.

The first three singles players for the Owls, Kapshuk, Sevel and Dorash, all saw victories with the final singles win coming from Eric Biscoveanu in the sixth position. Biscoveanu posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over the Knights' Sam Koster to secure the victory.

The Owls return to action in a full week with their American Athletic Conference opener against ECU. The match is set to be played at 6 p.m. on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
