WILLIAMSBURG, VA – Temple turned in a solid first round of play at the competitive Kingsmill Intercollegiate, placing 10th in the 22-team field at the three-day tournament held at the par-70, 6,778—yard, River Course at Kingsmill Resort.
Sophomore Trey Wren topped the Owls and tied for 17th overall among the 117-golfers with a three-over 73. Redshirt sophomore John Barone was two back (t36th) with a five over 75. Junior Mark Farley (77) and freshman Marty McGuckin (78) completed the scorers with redshirt freshman Erik Reisner (80) rounding out the Temple quintet.
Louisville led the field with an even-par 280. Penn State is three strokes back (283) in second place followed by Tennessee (286), Sam Houston State (290), Marshall (294), William & Mary and Winthrop (297), Radford (299), Drake (300) with Temple (303) rounding out the Top 10.
Louisville's Nicholas Platret and Keegan deLange shared the lead with two-under 68s.
Second round play continues Monday with the 54-hole tournament concluding Tuesday.
