Wiczkowski Earns ECAC Specialist of the Week Honors
3.7.17 | Women's Gymnastics
DANBURY, Conn. – The ECAC has announced its weekly edition of its Division I women's gymnastics awards, naming sophomore captain Breahna Wiczkowski Specialist of the Week. The honor comes after an impressive four-for-four performance across two meets this past week.
In the Owls first of two at Maryland last Wednesday, Wiczkowski posted a new career-high bar score with a 9.725 that helped guide the Owls to both a season-high bar score of 48.8 and a new program team record of 194.90. She also added a 9.55 in the beam lineup to add a counting score on both of her events.
When the Owls travelled to Ithaca, N.Y. on Saturday, Wiczkowski once again showed her consistency with a 9.5 on bars to kick off the meet. Once the Owls made it to beam, the sophomore shattered her own career record on the event with a meet-leading 9.925. The score stands as the first ever 9.925 on beam in Temple gymnastics history and the first beam score of 9.9 or above since 2004. Wiczkowski was shy of the program record 9.95 by just a quarter of a tenth.
She now holds three individual beam titles on the season and has posted the highest beam mark of an ECAC beam worker. Currently, she ranks second in the conference on the event with an RQS of 9.80.
The Owls are looking towards a second dual-meet weekend beginning with a road meet at William & Mary on Friday, March 10.
