DRAFTED! Fitzgerald Taken by the Indiana Fever

4.13.17 | Women's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple women's basketball senior Feyonda Fitzgerald was selected in the 2017 WNBA draft, becoming the fourth player in Owls' women's basketball history with that distinction. She was drafted by the Indiana Fever.

The fourth All-American in Temple history, Fitzgerald had an outstanding senior season, averaging 17.3 points and 7.3 assists per game for the Owls. She helped Temple to their its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2011, and the first Philadelphia Big 5 Championship since that same span. Fitzgerald finished second on Temple's all-time scoring list and set new single season and career assist marks for the program.

Fitzgerald joins Temple greats Candice Dupree (2006 - Chicago Sky/1st Round), Kamesha Hairston (2007 - Connecticut Sun/1st Round), and Shey Peddy (2012 - Chicago Sky/2nd Round) as the only other Owls to get drafted by the WNBA. Several other Temple players have gone on to play professionally in the WNBA teams without being drafted.
