Men's Tennis Seeded Seventh in American Athletic Conference Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Temple University men's team will head to the American Athletic Conference Championship as the seventh seed, the conference announced Monday. The men's championship will begin April 20 and conclude April 23. The tournament will be played at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The men's team heads into conference play coming off an outstanding regular season record at 17-9. The Owls picked up a conference win against UConn earlier in the season but suffered losses from East Carolina, Tulsa, and Memphis. The men will face off against No. 2 Tulane on Friday at Noon ET/11:00 a.m. CT.
This season the Owls put out a strong showing and were undefeated at home with a record of 10-0. Sophomore Artem Kapshuk (14-6) leads the team with a 12-5 dual record, going 14-6 at the first flight, while classmate Florian Mayer (12-7) is 11-7, at the second flight andjunior Thomas Sevel (17-6) had a strong regular season finishing play at 15-6 in dual play. Uladzimir Dorash (12-8) was 12-6 in dual action, with a 6-1 record in the third flight. Senior Filip Stipic saw action in singles play notching a 4-2 record and 4-1 record in the sixth flight. Freshmen also led the way for the Owls, with Francisco Bohorquez (12-8) going 12-5 in dual play, mainly in the fifth flight, whileEric Biscoveanu (9-4) went 8-4 in dual action.
In doubles, Dorash and Bohorquez lead the team with a 14-4 record, going 10-3 at the second flight, while Kapshuk and Sevel were 8-4 overall with an impressive 7-1 record at the number one position. Senior Vineet Naran and Mayer rounded out the doubles play, going 7-7 overall.
The men's semifinals will be played on Saturday at Noon ET/11 a.m. CT, with the championship match beginning at Noon ET/11 a.m. CT on Sunday.
