Women's Rowing Races at Kelly Cup City Championships

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's rowing team saw top three finishes in all five races, competing at the 2017 Bergen Cup Regatta, the unofficial City Championships.
Temple's varsity eight took second in the premiere race, finishing in 6:40.01, behind only Drexel's 6:34.03. Villanova, St. Joe's, Philly U, and La Salle rounded out the field.
Temple also finished second in both the second varsity eight and varsity four races. The 2V clocked in at 6:40.05 behind Drexel's 6:40.05, and ahead of St. Joe's, Drexel's 3V, and Villanova. The varsity four was second in 7:20.25, behind Drexel, but in front of St. Joe's, Villanova, Philly U, and La Salle.
In novice eight racing, Temple made up some ground over St. Joe's, but ultimately finished second to the Hawks in the four-boat race. SJU finished in 6:58.39 to Temple's 7:02.05, followed by Drexel and Villanova.
Temple grabbed gold from the 2V4 in a mixed field that also included the Owls' novice four. Temple's 2V4 recorded a winning time of 7:49.22 after a strong start, outpacing second-place Villanova's 7:55.57. Philly U was third in 8:03.77, while the N4 took fourth in 8:20.55.
Temple has one final tune up before the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships, racing Delaware, Navy, and West Virginia next weekend on the Schuylkill.
