Olympic Medalist Yuko Sano Joins TUVB Staff as Volunteer Assistant

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team has added world renowned player, Yuko Sano, to the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. The Olympic bronze medalist recently announced her retirement from a storied playing career. 

Sano comes to Temple with a multitude of high-level international and professional experience. The libero was part of the Japanese team that claimed the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics and also played in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She owns three World/World Grand Prix medals, including a silver with her team at the 2014 World Grand Prix.

Individually, Sano was named the 2014 FIVB World Grand Prix's Most Valuable Player and also nabbed "Best Libero" honors at the same event. She also boast numerous other "Best Digger" and "Best Receiver" awards spanning her career. 

The Temple volleyball team is coming off a 24-8 season in 2016. The Owls will open play for the 2017 season in late August.
