Howard Closes Out 2017 Season at NCAA East Preliminaries

LEXINGTON, KY - On Thursday, Millie Howard represented Temple women's track and field at the 2017 NCAATFÂ East Preliminary Championships. At University of Kentucky's track and field complex, the freshman competed among the top 45 800-meter race runners in the east region. Despite great marks at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, the East Preliminaries marked the end of Howard's freshman season.
"Millie was up against some tough competition," says head coach Elvis Forde. "We know she will be disappointed in her performance, but this will be a great foundation for next year."
Howard finished the race in 2:12.31 (43rd), not quite qualifying for the next round. Only the top-24 of her competitors made it to the 800-meter finals. As the all-conference freshman season comes to an end for Howard, she looks forward to the improvement she can make on the track next season.Â
