Millio Named to Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

6.15.17 | Women's Rowing

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple rower Lea Millio was honored for academic and athletic performance, being named one of nine student-athletes on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Rowing Team. The team is nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.

A mainstay in Temple's varsity eight boat this season, Millio was named the 2017 Temple Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was a first team American Athletic Conference selection, as well as a team captain. In her career in cherry and white, Millio helped the team to its highest ever team finish (third) at the 2016 American Athletic Conference Championships and was a member of countless medal winning boats. She started her career on North Broad as the Owls' Rookie of the Year in 2014 and culminated her Temple accolades by being named the team's Athlete of the Year this season. Millio graduated with "Distinction in Major" as a History Honors Scholar and will attend Temple Law this fall.

Joining Millio on the Academic All-Area team were Co-Performers of the Year Paige Propp of Drexel and Natalie Reynolds of Penn. Bryn Mawr was represented by Jane Liu  and Emily Spiegel while Propp was joined by Drexel teammate Catherine Haas. Reynolds and Regina Salmons were Penn's honorees while Saint Joseph's placed Katherine Robb and Caroline Strauss on the squad.
