Women's Tennis Continues Play at Princeton Invitational

PHILADELPHIA- Temple's women's tennis team continues its season this weekend at the Princeton Invitational held on the University of Princeton campus in Princeton, NJ. The tournament will run from Friday Sept. 29th – Sunday Oct. 1st. The four teams in the event are Temple, Cornell, Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania.
Scouting the Owls
>Temple is led by head coach Steve Mauro who is in his 10th season at the helm of the program.
> The Owls finished last year with an 11-13 overall record with a 5-1 record at home.
>Temple will be looking for senior leadership from the trio of Alina Abdurakhimova, Monet Stuckey-Willis's and Yana Khon. Abdurahimova has a 47-24 career record in singles, Stuckey-Willis has a 35-21 record over her three years in singles while Khon had an 11-10 record last year.
>Sophomore Cecilia Castelli also adds returning experience going 8-5 in singles matches last year.
>The Owls are very excited about the new additions to the roster. Senior Rimpledeep Kaur transferred from New Mexico State where she was the number one ranked player there for three years and sophomore Kristina Titova is a transfer from Hampton University where she was also a number one player.
>Temple also welcomes the additions of junior Alice Patch and freshman Oyku Boz.
Princeton Invitational Schedule
> On Friday Sept. 29, Temple will play in a double match vs. Cornell that will start at 3:00 p.m. It will be followed immediately after with singles match vs. Princeton
> One Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m., Temple will play in two consecutive doubles matches first vs. Princeton and then against the university of Pennsylvania. Temple will then face Cornell at 2 p.m. in singles play.
>On Sunday, Oct. 1, Temple will finish the event by playing in a single match vs. the University of Pennsylvania.
