Grasela Named Philadelphia Soccer Six Defensive Player of the Week

9.5.17 | Men's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA - Redshirt-senior Mark Grasela was named this week's Philadelphia Soccer Six Defensive Player of the Week. Grasela scored Temple's single goal in its contest at Villanova, leading the Owls to a 1-0 victory.

Grasela has steadied the ship for Temple on the defensive end through the season's first four games. The Philadelphia native, who has yet to come off the field during the Owls' 388 total minutes of play this year, scored the game-winning goal on Tuesday Aug. 29 as Temple grabbed its first win of the year with a 1-0 defeat of Villanova. The veteran also held Temple opponents Delaware and Rider to two total goals in the Owls' other two games last week as both games went to overtime. Temple earned a 1-1 draw with Delaware after a full 110 minutes and fell in overtime to Rider, 1-0.

Grasela was also named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week of Sept. 4.
