Track and Field Set to Compete at Great Dane Classic

PHILADELPHIA - On Saturday Jan. 13, Temple track and field will open 2018Â competition at the Great Dane Classic hosted by University at Albany. Coming off of the Navy Lid Lifter where several student-athletes earned top 10 marks, the Owls look for continued improvement at Saturday's meet.
Scouting the Owls
> Track and field is in its fourth season under the direction of head coach Elvis Forde.
> The Owls will return 13 student-athletes and has brought in 18 newcomers this season.Â
> During the 2016-2017 indoor season, junior Crystal Jones set a program record in the pentathlon at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships with a mark of 3,528 points to earn second place overall in the event. Temple finished 10th overall in the American.
> This season, women's track and field will be led by co-captains Jones and junior Sylvia Wilson.
Last Time Out
> At the Navy Lid Lifter on Dec. 5, five Owls earned nine individual top 10 performances across five events.Â
> In just the second meet of the indoor season, sophomore Ebonee Jackson continued to improve on her 60m hurdle personal best, beating her Fastrack Season Opener time by .02 of a second with a 8.57 to place second overall.
