PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team opened the fall head racing season with a successful debut at the 2018 Navy Day Regatta. The Owls took the top spot in both the varsity four and novice eight races, taking second in the JV 8, and fourth in the varsity eight.

Collegiate 8+
> Temple raced three boats in deep 26-crew field, taking fourth, eighth, and 18th.
> The Owls' "A" boat clocked in at 13:43.330 to finish just behind Penn, Navy, and Georgetown.
> Temple's "B" boat finsihed in 14:11.890, followed by the "C" boat in 14:48.230.

JV 8+
> It was a second place finish for the Owls in the junior varsity eight event, as Temple finished in 14:01.300.
> The Cherry and White were behind only Penn in the field of 16 boats.

Novice 8+
> Temple's novice eight made a splash in the crew's first collegiate regatta, beating a field of 11 teams to win the event.
> The Owls clocked in at 14:37.070.

Collegiate 4+
> Temple earned its first win of the day in the open four event, entering two boats into the 33-crew field.
> The Owls' "A" boat finished with a winning time of 14:55.570, nearly four second ahead of second place Navy.
> Temple's other entry had a solid race, finishing 19th in 16:19.330.

Novice 4+
> Wrapping up the racing, Temple's novice four took second place.
> The Owls clocked in at 16:15.240 to finish behind only Navy in the event.

> Temple will race at the historic Head of the Charles Regatta next weekend.
