Women's Basketball Announces Staff Additions

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball program has announced three staff changes beginning with the 2018-19 season. The Owls will welcome, Talisa Samano as Assistant Director of Operations, Joey Raniero as Video Coordinator, and Mykia Jones as a graduate manager.
Talisa Samano, Assistant Director of Operations
Talisa Samano returns to Temple as the Assistant Director of Operations beginning with the 2018-19 season.
With the Owls, Samano will be responsible for hiring, supervising, and supporting the student managers, creating and running a Temple WBB Alumni newsletter, assisting in the coordination of recruiting travel, assisting with the oversight of annual Women's Basketball budget, and oversight of general basketball office operations.
Samano spent the past six years on the West Coast, working in hospitality. Her work experience includes working for the luxury boutique, Kimpton Hotels, and most recently as a Sales Manager for Hilton Hotels.
A Temple University graduate, Samano earned her bachelor's degree in strategic communications with a concentration in public relations in 2010. She spent four years with the Owls' women's basketball program as a manager, her first two seasons under the director of Dawn Staley and the final two under Cardoza.
As a senior, Samano interned for the 76ers as a community relations intern, where she assisted with the Read to Achieve program, helped organize community events (76ers draft party, Summer Beach Bash), and helped fulfill requests for autographed items, tickets, and speaking appearances. She also served two stints as a volunteer team manager for USA Basketball's U-18 Olympic trials in Colorado Springs, Co.
Samano is a native of Santa Cruz County, Ca.
Joey Raniero, Video Coordinator
Joey Raniero begins his first season as the Owls' video coordinator in 2018-19.
With the Owls, Raniero will oversee all game and practice film for the coaching staff and handle the scout film exchange for the program. He also recruits and manages the team's male practice players.
A 2018 Temple graduate with a degree in sport and recreation management, Raniero served as a practice player for the Owls for four years. As a senior, Raniero interned for the Owls, assisting with office administration and with on-court workouts.
Raniero has worked at a variety of different basketball camps, including the Kyrie Irving and Michael Carter-Williams ProCamps, Delaware Valley High School Basketball Camp, and Sixers Camps. He also volunteers and help work the Danny Rumph Classic, a premier basketball tournament in Philadelphia and the signature event for the Daniel E. Rumph II Foundation.
A Milford, Pa. native, Raniero played high school basketball for coach Kris Holtzer at Delaware Valley and was a member of the Lackawanna League Division II Coaches All Star First-Team as a senior. He also started the Lackawanna League Senior All-Star Game.
Mykia Jones, Graduate Manager
Mykia Jones was named a graduate manager for the Owls beginning with the 2018-19 season.
A stand-out collegiate basketball player, Jones spent her final year of eligibility with the Owls. In four years between Wake Forest, Georgetown, and Temple, she racked up over 500 career points in college, while adding 175 rebounds, 132 assists, and 63 steals. A fantastic three-point shooter, she nailed over 100 from long range in her career.
At Temple in 2017-18, Jones played in 30 games for the Owls, making seven starts. She ranked second on the team with 40 threes, including nailing five in a game twice during the season. Jones saved her best for last, leaving her college career behind with 18 points on five threes with a pair of steals in Temple's American quarterfinal game against UCF.
Jones earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from Georgetown in 2017. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Temple's School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management, with a focus on sport business and a concentration in sport marketing and promotions.
Jones is a native of Raleigh, N.C.
