Volleyball Hosts Thursday-Saturday Home Matches

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team has a pair of home matches this week, with a rare Thursday - Saturday conference series. The Owls will host USF on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and UCF on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

PROMOTIONS
> Thursday's match is a Halloween Hangover, giving fans one more occasion to wear this year's Halloween costumes. We'll be handing out prizes to the best costumes.
> Thursday is also our Most Valuable Professors night, honoring the Temple teams most beloved instructors. 
> Saturday the Owls will be raffling off $100 Diamond Dollars to one lucky student. It's also Junior Owl Club and Youth Volleyball Day.

THE OWLS
> Temple is 5-18 overall with a 2-9 mark in the American Athletic Conference.
> Last time out, the Owls fell in a pair of road matches at Tulsa and Wichita State.
> On Friday, Temple lost a close three-set match at Tulsa, 25-19, 25-21, 26-24, while on Sunday, Wichita State swept the Owls, 25-19, 25-21, 25-19.
> Temple's offense is bunched with five players averaging better than 2.00 kills per set, led by junior Dana Westfield's 2.40 kills per set.
> Sophomore Katerina Papazoglou adds 2.4 kills per frame and also chips in to held the defense with 2.96 digs per set.
> Freshman Miray Bolukbasi contributes 2.24 kills per set, while graduate student Irem Asci adds 2.13 kills and 2.92 digs per set.
> Freshman Tyler Lindgren leads Temple with 5.49 assists per set, while senior Hannah Vandegrift adds 5.28 assists per set.
> Senior Mia Heirakuji leads the defense with 4.07 digs per frame.
> As a team, Temple hits .188, with opponents hitting .232 against the Owls.

SCOUTING USF
> USF enters Friday's match with a 17-7 overall record including a 6-2 mark in conference play.
> The Bulls have won three straight and are led offensively by Jac'cara Walker's 3.38 kills per set, with her also adding 2.59 digs per frame.
> Three other USF players average better than 2.1 kills per set, including Clara Payne (2.32 k/s), Nikkia Benitez (2.14 k/s), and Jaeden Brown (2.09 k/s).
> Defensively, C.C. Causen leads the way with 4.48 digs per set, while Brown averages a team-high 1.09 blocks per set.
> As a team, the Bulls hit .226, holding opponents to a stingy .186 attack. 

TEMPLE VS. USF
> The Bulls lead the all-time series with Temple, 12-7, but the Owls have won seven of the last nine meetings between the teams.
> Earlier this season, USF won a 3-2 heartbreaker for Temple in Tampa, as the Owls won the first two sets before dropping the last three. 

SCOUTING UCF
> UCF enters Saturday's match with a 20-3 overall record, including an 11-0 mark in the American.
> The Knights are alone atop the conference standings and have won 17-straight matches leading into this weekend's games.
> UCF is led by freshman outside hitter, McKenna Melville, who has racked up 4.44 kills per set this season, adding 3.53 digs per frame.
> Kristina Fisher (2.97 k/s) and Anne-Marie Watson (2.34 k/s) both bolster the Knights' attack, which averages 13.95 kills per frame as a team.
> Jordan Pingel leads the UCF back row, averaging 4.98 digs per set, while Nerissa Moravec and Kathryn Wesolich man the net, both averaging 1.00 blocks per set or better.
> As a team, UCF hits .245, holding opponents to a .182 attack.

TEMPLE VS. UCF
> Temple is 7-7 against UCF all-time, but the Knights have won two in a row.
> Last time they met, UCF claimed the match, 3-0, in Orlando.
