LEWISBURG, Pa. – Redshirt senior John Barone shot a career-best round of 66 to lead the 95-golfer field at the Bucknell Invitational. Barone's four-under round helped the Owls to a three-stroke lead over Wayne State after the first of two days at 18-team tournament being held at the par-70, 6,224-yard Bucknell Golf Club.

- Barone played flawless golf, recording four birdies and 14 pars in his personal best round.
- Senior Trey Wren was three strokes back of Barone and tied for seventh with a one-under 69. After starting the day with a double-bogey six, he ran off three birdies over the best six holes. He added another birdie and a bogey in the back nine.
- Redshirt junior Erik Reisner was next for Temple, carding a one-over 71 to tie for 17th while senior Gary McCabe and freshman Conor McGrath rounded out the Owls five with four-over 74s.
- Temple leads the field after the first round for the first time all season. The Owls are even par with a 280, three shots ahead of Wayne State (283) with host Bucknell (284), Monmouth (285), Fairleigh Dickinson (286), Navy (287) and Iona (288) all within eight strokes.
- Barone, looking for his first tournament win, holds a one-shot lead over Dragon Theam (La Salle), Connor Watt (Humber) and Jason Lohwater (Bucknell B).
- It marks the first time the Owls have led an invitational after the first day since winning the one-day City 6 title on Nov. 5, 2016.
