Doubles Pair of Casas and Wallner Ranked No. 23 in Nation

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple men's tennis doubles pair of Alberto Caceres Casas and Mark Wallner earned the No. 23 spot in the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings that were released on Thursday, Nov. 14. They are also the top ranking doubles team in the American Athletic Conference.
Casas and Wallner had a strong fall campaign, wrapping up the season at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships on Monday, Oct. 22. In Blacksburg, Va., the pair battled Penn State's tandem of Constant de la Bassetiere and Gabriel Nemeth in the doubles final, but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-0 to the Nittany Lions. En route to the final, Casas and Wallner defeated some elite competition. In the round of 32, the Owls downed Virginia Tech's No. 22 pair of Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro. They also triumphed over Old Dominion's pair of Aziz Kijametovic and Francois Musitelli, who were the reigning ITA Atlantic Regional doubles champions, in the semifinal. Casas and Wallner had one of the best showings at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships in Temple history.
The Owls will open up their spring season on Friday, Jan. 18 in Norfolk, Va. as they take on the Old Dominion Monarchs.
