Women's Basketball Opens Miami Thanksgiving Classic on Friday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team heads south for the holiday to play in the Miami Thanksgiving Classic. The Owls will play a pair of games at the event, taking on Radford on Friday and the #22/23 Hurricane on Sunday.
THE OWLS
> After starting the season 2-0, Temple has lost back-to-back games, falling on the road at Ole Miss and Marist.
> In three games, sophomore Mia Davis lead Temple, averaging 20.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
> Graduate student Alliya Butts, back from an injury that kept her off the floor last season, averages 13.5 points per game with a team-high 13 assists.
> Sophomores Desiree Oliver (7.0 ppg) and Emani Mayo (6.5 ppg) also pace the Temple offense.
> Freshman Marissa Mackins (5.7 ppg) and junior Shannen Atkinson (5.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg) round out the season box score.
> As a team, the Owls are shooting 38.0% from the field and 28.8% from three.
LAST TIME OUT: Marist 74, Temple 68
> Last time out, Temple started strong against Marist, but a second quarter run from the Red Foxes proved to be the decider, as the Owls fell 74-68.
> Temple got as close as a four-point deficit late in the fourth quarter, but Marist iced the game by going 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
> Mia Davis turned in 28 points (a career high) with 11 rebounds, while Shannen Atkinson recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, both career bests for the junior.
> Alliya Butts finished with 17 points and a pair of steals, while Desiree Oliver finished with nine points.
SCOUTING RADFORD
> Radford enters Friday's game with a 2-1 record, also starting the season 2-0 before falling to #17 NC State.
> The Highlanders finished 24-9 a year ago, earning a bid to the WNIT where they advanced to the second round.
> Savannah Felgemacher leads Radford on both ends of the floor, averaging 17.7 points and 15.7 rebounds per game.
> Destinee Walker adds 10.0 points and 5.0 assists per game, with a team-high 2.8 assists per game.
> Lydia Rivers adds 9.7 points and 7.3 rebounds an outing, while Khiana Johnson (8.0 ppg), Tina Lindenwold (6.7 ppg), and Bryonna McClean (6.0 ppg) round out the high-powered Redford offense.
> As a team, Redford shoots 38.5% from the field and 30.2% from three, but only 57.1% from the line.
LAST TIME OUT: #17 NC State 75, Redford 58
> #17 NC State used a strong second half to top Radford on Sunday.
> The Highlanders stayed within striking distance of the Wolfpack much of the game, but couldn't stop a late run.

> Khiana Johnson and Tina Lindenfeld both added eight points in the loss.
