12.11.18 | Football
PHILADELPHIA- Temple's DT Michael Dogbe has been selected to play in the 2019 East- West Shrine Game. This is the 94th annual Shrine game to be played. The game will take place on January 19, 2019, and will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida, the site of Temple's Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl last December. Two other Owls, SAF Delvon Randall and CB Rock Ya-Sin were also selected in the previous wave of invitations.
Dogbe has been a force in the middle of the defensive line all season and has been in wreaking havoc in every backfield the Owls faced. Dogbe led the line with 69 tackles, 12.5 TFLs, seven sacks, and three forced fumbles. He was named First Team All-AAC for his performance this season. After playing in the Independence Bowl, Dogbe and Randall will hold the record for most career games played as an Owl at 54.
"Being invited to the East-West Shrine game is an unbelievable opportunity," said Dogbe. "It is a great chance to showcase my talent and for that I am very thankful."
For more than 90 years, some of football's greatest players and coaches have contributed to the tradition of the East-West Shrine Game, the nation's first college all-star football game. Created by the Shriners in 1925, the game is driven by the desire to support Shriners Hospitals for Children in its mission to help children in need of expert medical care. Participating players make an annual visit to the local Shriners Hospital, visiting children and staff in an experience that they will truly never forget.
