Women's Basketball Plays at #25 South Carolina on Friday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team returns to the court on Friday on the road at South Carolina. The Owls will play the #25 Gamecocks at 7:00 p.m. on the SEC Network.
THE OWLS
> Temple is 3-6 overall, playing seven of nine games so far this season away from McGonigle Hall.
> Sophomore Mia Davis leads Temple on both ends of the floor, averaging 20.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, also shooting a team-high 60% (12-20 from three point range).Â
> Graduate student Alliya Butts is second on the team in scoring, with 16.1 points per game, while leading the Owls with averages of 4.2 assists and 2.9 steals per outing.
> Sophomore Desiree Oliver (6.3 ppg) and Freshman Marissa Mackins (6.0 ppg) also aid the Temple offense.
> Sophomore Emani Mayo (4.9 ppg) and junior Shannen Atkinson (3.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg) round out the season box score.
> As a team, the Owls are shooting 39.1% from the field and 28.2% from long range.

> Temple forced 19 Villanova turnovers, but the Wildcats shot 54.2% to provide the edge in a 76-68 Philadelphia Big 5 battle in Villanova.Â
> Temple rallied from a 10-point first half deficit to take the a 34-33 edge at the half, backed by an 11-0 closing run in the second quarter.
> Villanova answered by outscoring Temple 22-14 in the third quarter to lead by seven after three.
> The Owls cut the lead to four midway through the final frame, but Villanova surged over the final four minutes sealing the win.
> Mia Davis and Alliya Butts each scored 22 points, with Davis adding nine boards, and Butts adding six assists and three steals.
