Women's Basketball Hosts La Salle in Big 5 Battle on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team will play at McGonigle Hall for just the third time this season, hosting Philadelphia Big 5 rival La Salle on Sunday. The Owls and Explorers will tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
PROMOTIONS
> Parent-Child Lay-Ups: All kids 6th grade and under are invited to La Salle and ECU and Cincinnati can come on the court after the game with a guardian to make a layup
> Post-Game Autographs: All fans are invited to a post-game autograph session with the Temple Owls on the main concourse. This is your chance to meet and greet the women's basketball team.
THE OWLS
> Temple is 3-7 overall, playing eight of 10 games so far this season away from McGonigle Hall.
> Sophomore Mia Davis leads Temple on both ends of the floor, averaging 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, also shooting a team and conference high 57.1% (12-21) from three point range.
> Graduate student Alliya Butts is second on the team in scoring, with 16.4 points per game, while leading the Owls with averages of 4.2 assists and 2.4 steals per outing.
> Sophomore Desiree Oliver (6.3 ppg) and freshman Marissa Mackins (6.2 ppg) also aid the Temple offense.
> Sophomore Emani Mayo (4.6 ppg) rounds out the season box score.
> As a team, the Owls are shooting 38.4% from the field and 27.7% from long range.
LAST TIME OUT: #25 South Carolina 88, Temple 60
> A huge third quarter from #25 South Carolina lifted the Gamecocks to an 88-60 victory over Temple.
> The Owls trailed by just nine at the break, before the hosts outscored Temple, 27-6, including a 21-1 run to put things away.
> Temple turned the ball over just eight times in the game, while forcing 15 turnovers from South Carolina, as the Gamecocks hot shooting provided the difference.
> Shantay Taylor shined with career highs of 14 points and three steals, tying a career best with nine rebounds.
