3.1.18 | Women's Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA - The second Top 10 opponent in the first six games awaits Temple lacrosse on Friday, March 2, as the Owls (2-3) host #7/5 James Madison (4-0) at 3 p.m. It's the first of five straight home games for Temple, a stretch which will culminate with the first two BIG EAST Conference games of the season.

Scouting Temple
> The Owls are coming off an 18-15 road win at Lafayette on Feb. 25, thanks to hat tricks from five different players - the biggest number in at least the last 10 years.
> Freshman Jen Rodzewich had a breakout game at Lafayette, scoring her first five career goals and adding her first two career assists to lead the Owls. Also notching hat tricks with three goals each were junior Amber Lambeth, sophomores Maddie Gebert and Olivia Thompson, and freshman Jackie Cerchio. It was the first hat trick for Cerchio, and the second straight for both Gebert and Thompson.
> Head Coach Bonnie Rosen recorded her 100th Temple win at Lafayette. Rosen is in her 12th season at the helm with a career record of 168-176 (22nd year) and a 100-95 record at Temple.
> Temple started the season 2-0 with wins vs. Rutgers and at Monmouth before falling to #9 Princeton and to Saint Joseph's at home.
> Sophomore goalkeeper Maryn Lowell tied her career high with 17 saves in the loss to Princeton. Lowell has 51 saves so far this season, the most of any player in NCAA Division I, with her 10.20 saves per game ranking 20th.
> Temple is coming off a 13-5 season that saw the Owls make their second-straight appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament since joining the league as an associate member in 2014. They fell 21-9 to #2 Florida in the BIG EAST Semifinals.

Scouting James Madison
> The Dukes began the season ranked 16th in the Preseason IWLCA Coaches Poll, but have vaulted up to No. 7 thanks largely to a season-opening, 15-14 double-overtime win vs. #3 North Carolina.
> Since then, JMU has beaten Virginia Tech (16-11), UConn (21-9) and High Point (13-11).
> Senior midfielder Elena Romesburg and senior attacker Kristen Gaudian lead the Dukes with 19 and 16 goals, respectively. The two also hold the second and third spots on the team in draw controls, with senior midfielder Haley Warden leading the way (23 draws).
> JMU finished 14-7 in 2017, beating three ranked teams and losing to five others. The Dukes, winners of the CAA Tournament last year, advanced to the NCAA Second Round before falling 19-14 to #4 Penn State.

All-Time Series
> Temple leads the series vs. JMU 4-2, but the teams have not met since 2000.
> The Dukes won that year, 20-5 on their home field, and also won 15-6 in Harrisonburg in 1998. > The Owls won the first four meetings of the series, most recently with a 17-10 NCAA Tournament victory in 1997.
