Owls' Second Varsity Eight Named American Boat of the Week

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple second varsity eight boat captured American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week honors on Monday.
CLEAN SWEEP
> The crew was perfect in Temple's season opener, sweeping races against UNC and Boston College.
> To start the racing, the Owls grabbed an early lead against the Tar Heels and held it, clocking in at 6:37.0 to UNC's 6:38.7.
> In the afternoon race against Boston College, Temple led start to finish, winning by over 10 seconds, 6:37.7 to 6:48.0.
> The boat had underclassmen in seven of nine spots (four freshmen, three sophomores, two juniors).
