PHILADELPHIA – On Saturday April 7, the NACGC/W announced its regional award winners. Temple's Kristy Bannon Sromovsky was named the 2018 Northeast Regional Sport Administrator of the year, as nominated by head Temple gymnastics coach, Umme Salim-Beasley. Honorees are voted on each year by all Northeast region coaches after each institutions' nomination.
"I am extremely honored to receive this award," says Bannon Sromovsky. "The passion and dedication that our student-athletes and coaching staff have for the gymnastics program and the university as whole makes my job all the more enjoyable. It's not often that sport administrators are recognized for their contributions. It's nice to see that NCAA Gymnastics recognizes the hard work of their administrators as well. I am honored to know that the head coaches in the Northeast region believed I was deserving of the award."
The Senior Associate AD of Compliance and Student-Athlete Affairs has been the sport administrator for Temple gymnastics for the past three seasons. Bannon Sromovsky plays an integral role in the development and success of the gymnastics program. Throughout the season, she serves as the acting meet director during all home competitions. Additionally, she is an advocate and liaison for the gymnastics program with the senior athletics staff.
"Kristy takes a genuine interest in the success of the gymnastics program and wants our gymnasts to know that she is supportive of them in all areas," says Salim-Beasley. "She takes her role as a sport administrator very seriously and there is no one more deserving of recognition for the dedication and commitment to the Temple gymnastics program."
