Men’s Soccer Announces 2018 Fall Schedule
6.13.18 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA – A new era for Temple men's soccer officially gets underway this fall with the announcement of the Owls' 2018 schedule. It marks the first season under new head coach Brian Rowland and the program's new mentor is ready to get his men on the pitch.
"I am very excited to announce our 2018 fall schedule," said Rowland, who served the previous eight seasons on the Maryland staff. "We have put together a very competitive out of conference set of games to go along with a great AAC conference schedule. We will face three teams who participated in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, as well as seven teams that were in last year's Top 50 RPI."
In addition, we will play some new faces this year, and test ourselves within the region against other elite level teams. We plan to challenge our group heading into a tough American Athletic Conference schedule, and be prepared to play some of the different styles and tactics within our league. "
After home exhibition matches against Loyola (Md.) (Aug. 14) and Stony Brook (Aug. 17), the season begins in earnest with a road contest against UMBC (Aug., 24). That match is the first of a four-game road trip with contests at NCAA Tournament participants VCU (Aug. 31) and ODU (Sept. 2) on Labor Day weekend as well as Rider (Sept. 5).
St. John's will serve as the home opener for the Owls on Sept. 8 with the Red Storm being the first of just six home matches at the Temple Sports Complex.
Temple then takes to the road for games at Princeton (Sept. 12) and Duquesne (Sept. 15) before opening its American Athletic Conference slate at home against UCF (Sept. 21).
The Owls then host Philadelphia Soccer Six rival Villanova on Sept. 26 before embarking of a stretch of five road games in six outings starting with a trip traveling to conference foe Cincinnati (Sept. 29).
October begins with an away game at NJIT (Oct. 3) which is followed by a home conference test against Memphis (Oct. 6). Then the Cherry and White hit the road for a three-game stretch versus USF (Oct. 12), Pitt (Oct. 15) and UConn (Oct. 20).
Temple ends its home schedule with back-to-back matches against Penn (Oct. 23) and Tulsa (Oct. 27). The team's final regular season game of the 2018 schedule at SMU on Nov. 2.
