Temple Football Practices at Franklin Field

PHILADELPHIA- For the second time this preseason Temple Football held an off-site practice away from Edberg Olson Football Complex at 10th and Diamond. This annual practice was held at historic Franklin Field, one of the most iconic venues in college athletics. Coaches strive for a game-like experience by having players participate in typical pre-game warmups and drills. The team also stayed at their game day hotel last night and ate their usual night-before-game meal in order to simulate what they will be doing come the fall.
QUOTEABLE
"The defense has been unbelievable," said offensive coordinator Dave Patenaude. "It's a challenge for our offense on every play. "We've got so many different looks and so much exposure to different types of defense, it's been great moving forward into our Villanova week."
>The first drive of practice featured multiple long runs by redshirt-senior FB Rob Ritrovato. The series was capped off by a 12-yard touchdown grab by graduate WR Ventell Bryant from fellow graduate QB Frank Nutile.
>In the next series Nutile played, he was picked off by redshirt-sophomore DB Keyvone Bruton.
>Following the interception, redshirt-sophomore QB Anthony Russo connected with fellow redshirt-sophomore WR Freddie Johnson for a 14-yard touchdown. Johnson also caught a 22-yard ball from redshirt-freshman Todd Centeio and another 16-yard ball from Russo a few series later.
>Freshman QB Trad Beatty ran the offense for the next series. The Owls drove from their own 42-yard line all the way down to the 8-yard line before redshirt-freshman kicker Will Mobley hit a 25-yard field goal.
>The next drive Nutile led resulted in a jumping interception at the line of scrimmage by redshirt-sophomore DE Quincy Roche.
>The team concluded practice by running two-minute drill scenarios involving all of the offensive groups.
>Temple concluded its final off-site practice in preparation for their week one matchup against Villanova at Lincoln Financial Field.
