Campbell Earns Multiple Rookie of the Week Honors

9.10.18 | Men's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA -- After notching the game-winner in Temple's 1-0 overtime win at Rider last Wednesday, freshman forward Jalen Campbell earned Rookie of the Week accolades from both the American Athletic Conference and the Philly Soccer Six. These honors mark the first of the Brampton, Ontario native's career.

Campbell netted a crucial overtime goal in the 94th minute, finalizing the game and giving Temple a 1-0 victory over a challenging Rider Broncs squad on the road. Junior Leandros Lillis combined with senior Belal Mohamed who quickly distributed a cross to the near post. Campbell read the play, strategically timing his near-post run to be in the perfect position to bury the golden goal opportunity.

Campbell has also been a key player for the Owls so far this season, starting all five matches as a freshman and providing a strong attacking presence against each opponent Temple has faced. Campbell's two points on the season ties him for first in points on the squad, and his five shots puts him at second most for Temple.

The Owls will see game action next on Wednesday, September 12th when they travel to Princeton, N.J. to take on the Tigers.
