Golf Opens Fall Season at Cornell Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's golf opens its 12^th season under head coach Brian Quinn this weekend (Sept. 15-16) at the Cornell Invitational. The Owls will look to defend their 2017 team title at the 15-team, 54-hole tournament which will be held at the 6,904-yard, par-71 Robert Trent Golf Course at Cornell University.

Scouting the Owls

It is a veteran Owls team that will hit the links Saturday with redshirt senior John Barone and seniors Gary McCabe, Sam Soeth and Trey Wren among the Cherry and White's five-man squad at the opening tournament.
Freshman Conor McGrath (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.), one of the area's top junior players, is the lone newcomer competing this weekend while redshirt junior Erik Reisner is playing the tournament as an individual.
Barone had his best tournament as an Owl at last year's Cornell Invitational, shooting three consecutive rounds of one-under 70 to place second overall with a three-under 210.
Barone was denied medalist honors when Yale's James Nicholas drained a 40-foot put on the 54^th and final hole to finish at four-under.

The Field

Besides Temple and host Cornell, 11 other teams will be competing at the 2018 Cornell Invitational.
The other schools are Binghamton, Bucknell, Canisius, Colgate, Columbia, Dartmouth, Penn, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's, Siena and Yale.
Cornell and Penn will field two squads.
