PHILADELPHIA — Visiting Maryland's offense proved too much to handle, as the Temple volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-17) decision to the Terps to open up the 2018 Cherry & White Challenge on Friday night.

> Maryland hit a massive .396 in the match, recording just eight total errors in the three-set sweep.
> Temple rebounded from a rough first set to hit .156 in the second, but the Owls' hitting woes continued in the third.

Set One: Maryland 25, Temple 10
> It seemed the Terps couldn't miss in the first set, as Maryland hit .571 (22-2-35) while the Owls managed just six kills to it .097 (6-3-31).
> Maryland allowed Temple just one tie the whole set, as the Terps quickly built a 9-2 advantage.
> Temple interrupted the run briefly, but another Maryland surge pushed it to 20-5.

Set Two: Maryland 25, Temple 20
> Temple regrouped in the second set, racking up 15 kills to Maryland's 13, but in the end, the Terps made runs when it counted.
> The match stayed close with neither team leading by more than three early on, before Maryland made its run.
