Golf Sits In Sixth Place after First Day at River Run Collegiate

Davidson, N.C. – Senior Trey Wren led Temple Golf with a one-under 143 over the first two rounds of the River Run Collegiate and the Owls sit in sixth place among the 13 competing teams at the tournament being held at the par 72, 7,208-yard River Run Country Club.
Recapping the Day

Wren, who sits tied for fifth among the 80 competing golfers, is tied for second with 10 birdies on the day. He carded a one-under 71 in the morning before turning in an even par 72 for his afternoon round.
Redshirt junior Erik Reisner, who had his best day as an Owl, played consistent golf all day. He tied for third with 26 pars for the 36 holes and finished tied for 25^th with a four-over 148.
Redshirt senior John Barone (+7) had a rough 79 for his morning round, but rebounded for an even-par 72 in the afternoon. He joined Wren and Reisner with even par second rounds.
Freshman Conor McGrath, who had a technical error nullify his first round, carded a three-over 75 in his afternoon round which helped the Owls to a three-over, tying for the third best second round score.
Senior Gary McCabe (+11) is tied for 51^st while sophomore Dawson Anders (+9), playing as an individual, is tied for 40^th.

The Field

Charlotte (577) holds a one shot lead over host Davidson (578) and a two shot lead over Furman (579). Temple is 18 strokes off the pace with a 595.
Jack Lang (Davidson) and Keller Harper (Furman) are tied for the individual lead with seven-under 137s.

"We need Trey and John to be connecting on all cylinders at the same time and we need the other guys to manage their rounds and be mentally strong on the golf course to compete at this level," said Temple coach Brian Quinn.
