Women's Cross Country Competes at Paul Short Invitational

Bethlehem, Pa. – A group of runners from the Temple University women's cross country team made the trip to Lehigh University on Saturday morning to compete in the 45th Paul Short Run hosted in Bethlehem, Pa. The Owls competed in the Brown section of the meet, which hosted 47 teams in the field.
About the 45th Paul Short Run
> The Paul Short Run is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation with approximately 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools. It features 14 races composed of six college, six high school and two open competitions throughout the day.
> The races were run on the picturesque Goodman Campus Cross Country Course, which navigates through corn fields, green spaces, wooded areas and campus senior, and is known as one of the best cross country courses in the Northeast region.
> The women raced 6,000 meters across the course in a field that contained multiple regionally recognized programs.

> "This meet was a very good opportunity for some of our younger runners to gain valuable college race experience," said head coach James Snyder. "This is the biggest field they have run in at this point in their careers, and there were many lessons learned today. I'm glad they got the chance to challenge themselves against some high quality individuals from our region."
How it Happened
> The first Owl to cross the finish line during the Brown section of the Paul Short Run was freshman Keegan Simonsen. Simonsen finished the 6,000 meter run in 24:03, with a top mile split of 6:27.
> Following Simonsen was fellow freshman Lexi Walsh, who finished with a time of 24:35.
> Closing out the top three for the Owls was freshman Emma Seifried, who ran the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in 24:42.
Up Next
> The squad will be back in action for their last regular-season meet of the year on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Owls will travel to Princeton, N.J. to compete at the Princeton Invitational for their final official race before the American Athletic Conference Championships in New Orleans, La.
