Cayet Named AAC Defensive Player of the Week; Brown Selected to Honor Roll

9.3.18 | Men's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA – After securing their first win of the season under Head Coach Brian Rowland and knocking down the No. 25 ODU Monarchs, two Owls are being honored by the American Athletic Conference for their tremendous efforts. Sophomore Pierre Cayet has been named Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, and junior Zach Brown was selected to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Cayet earned a spot on the ODU Soccer Classic All-Tournament team after assisting the man-down goal to win the game. He strategically framed the goal and was able to perfectly place the ball at the top of the six yard box, finding the head of Brown to finish it off. Cayet spearheaded a defense that allowed only one goal on the weekend from his center back position, coming from a penalty kick against tournament-champions VCU.

Brown also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after burying a header goal, putting the Owls up 1-0. He plays a pivotal leadership role on and off the field for Temple, heading a strong midfield that dominates possession in the center of the field. Both athletes aided the Owls tremendously this weekend, helping the squad finish second in the tournament with a record of 1-1.
