9.5.18 | Women's Rowing
PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team has announced its captains for the 2018-19 season and Meg Cook, Rachel Kelley, and Dani Ober will lead the Owls' squad.
"These three student-athletes are a fantastic blend of leadership styles and strengths and I am excited to see them step into this role and make it their own," said Head Coach Rebecca Grzybowski. "The energy, the drive and the commitment of this team is at an all-time high - it's clear from the vibe in the room at team meetings and from our recent testing results that we are ready to attack this year. I have no doubt that our captains will have a significant support system within the team as we collectively go after our biggest and fastest year ever."
Cook, a junior, hails from Southampton, Pa. A three-year member of the Owls, she started her career in the novice eight in 2016, and last season was part of Temple's decorated second varsity eight boat.
Kelley, a senior from Upper Black Eddy, Pa., is in her fourth season as an Owl. As a coxswain for Temple, she advanced from the Owls' novice boat as a freshman to leading the varsity eight boat as both a sophomore and a junior. Kelley also coxed the American Athletic Conference Champion third varsity eight as a freshman.
Ober, a senior, is a native of Manheim, Pa. After joining the team as a freshman novice, she quickly rose to the Owls' varsity eight boat for her sophomore and junior years. Ober holds Temple's all-time 2k erg record, and was a part of the American Athletic Conference Champion third varsity eight as a freshman.
