Men's Soccer Welcomes St. John's for Home Opener this Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – After a challenging four-game road stint, the Temple men's soccer team looks to extend their win-streak to three as they host their home opener this Saturday, September 8th when they welcome the St. John's Red Storm. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Temple Sports Complex, and admission is free to all.

> This Saturday is International Night! The Temple men's soccer team would like to welcome all international students to the game, joining the 11 players on the pitch in Cherry and White who came to Temple from outside the U.S.
Scouting the Owls
> Temple is 2-2 on the season, entering their first home match with momentum after winning their last two on the road against challenging opponents.
> Two Owls are tied at the top of the score sheet with one goal apiece. Both goals were hard-earned as junior Zach Brown notched the game winner at ODU with only 10 men on the field, and freshman Jalen Campbell tallied the overtime decider to take down Rider.
> As for assists, four athletes are tied with one apiece. Uniquely, both of Temple's goals on the season stemmed from the direct efforts of multiple players, awarding two people with the assists for each goal.
> Junior goalkeeper Simon Lefebvre secured his first win in net for the Owls this past Wednesday, logging three saves and posting his first shutout of the season. He now boasts a goals against average of .66, logging three starts and seven saves on the year.
Last Time on the Pitch
> The Owls will enter the match coming off an exciting overtime win over Rider, defeating the Broncs 1-0 to even their overall record to 2-2. In the 94th minute, junior Leandros Lillis combined with senior Belal Mohamed, who quickly distributed a cross to the near post. Freshman Jalen Campbell read the play, strategically timing his near-post run to be in the perfect position to bury the golden goal opportunity.
> The Owls battled relentlessly in the defensive third despite the brutal heat, working as a unit to shut down each opportunity the Broncs created. This was evident until the final whistle, as Temple's back line posted their second shutout of the season.

> The Red Storm comes to Philadelphia with an even record of 2-2. After falling to UC Santa Barbara 0-2 in their west coast opener, St. John's then went on to win two in a row, but fell 0-1 to Lehigh in their most recent competition.
> Despite an abundance of fresh faces, the Red Storm returns three of its top five scorers from a year ago in Jack Shearer, Filippo Ricupati and Matt Forster.
> Forster is off to a great start again this season as he leads the team in goals with three; two of which came from his brace against Loyola Marymount.
> Freshman Tani Oluwaseyi trails right behind Forster with two goals on the season. Oluwaseyi tabbed both goals in as many games, burying the overtime goal that lifted St. John's over Fairfield, 2-1.

> Two goalies have split time for the Red Storm, with Tyron Matuta logging 180 minutes and Lenny Wilson clocking 181 on the season. Matuta has the edge in saves with five, and has a GAA of 1.00 compared to Wilson's 1.49.
