Golf Finishes in 8th Place at Firestone Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – Another day, another collegiate best round for a Temple golfer. Tuesday it was freshman Graham Chase's turn as the Charlotte, N.C. native shot a two-under 70 in the final round of the Firestone Invitational to lead the Owls to an eighth place finish at the 15-tournament held on the 7,125-yard, par-72 Firestone Country Club North Course.
Recapping the Day
> Sophomore Conor McGrath, who recorded his collegiate best (69) Monday, was the Owls' overall top finisher, tied for 18th overall with a two-over 218. He carded after a four-over 76 for his final round.
> Junior Dawson Anders, who made his first career hole-in-one Monday while shooting a collegiate best 67, made even par 72 Tuesday to finish at three-over par (219) and tied for 21st.
>Chase, who had four birdies on the day, tied Anders with a three-over for the tournament.
>Senior Liam McGrath lowered his score for the third straight round, shooting a two-over 74, and finished at 10-over and tied for 55th with a 226.
> Sophomore Buddy Hansen (245, 80th) rounded out the team's five while freshman Danny Nguyen, playing as an individual, shot his collegiate best, a par 72, to finish tied for 59th.
The Field
> South Carolina-Aiken (857) won the tournament by one stroke over Santa Clara and Bowling Green (858). Host Akron was three strokes back (860).
> Akron's Fabian Sunden won medalist honors with a eight-under 208, edging USC-Aiken's Leo Johansson by one stroke.
