McGrath Brothers Lead Temple Golf at Phoenix Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Temple Golf's siblings, Conor and Liam McGrath combined for an even par day to highlight the first two rounds of competition at the Phoenix Invitational. As a team, the Owls are nine-over and in 14th place among the 16 teams at the event hosted by Elon University at the par-71, 6,867-yard Alamance Country Club.
Recapping
> Conor McGrath, who leads the team with a 73.6 stroke per round average, topped the squad with a one-under 141 for the two rounds. The sophomore shot a two-under 69, matching his career low round, in the morning and then posted a one-over 72 in the afternoon. He made a team-high eight birdies on the day.
> Liam McGrath was right behind his younger brother, making seven birdies for a one-over 143. The senior carded an even-par 71 in the morning and then shot one-over 72 in the afternoon.
> Freshmen Graham Chase (+4) and Danny Nguyen (+6) were next for the Owls with junior Dawson Anders, the #1 golfer for the team in the field, rounding out the starting five at plus-seven.

> Drexel and Morehead State lead the field with a 13-under 555. Gardner-Webb is third at 12-under then there is a big drop off to fourth place with defending champion Elon sitting at -3.
> Jake Scruggs of Gardner-Webb leads the field at 13-under after shooting a 10-under 61 in the afternoon. Drexel's Connor Schmidt is three shots off the pace at 10-under.
