Volleyball Heads to SMU and Memphis this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team continues play in the American Athletic Conference, playing road matches at SMU on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and at Memphis on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
OWL ABOUT TEMPLE
> Temple is 10-7 overall, including a 1-5 mark in conference play.
> Temple topped ECU 3-1 on Friday, snapping a six-match losing skid, but fell to Cincinnati, 3-0, on Sunday.
> Temple is led by junior Katerina Papazoglou's 3.06 kills per set, while the outside hitter also ranks second on the Owls with 2.98 digs per frame.
> Sophomore Gem Grimshaw adds 2.94 kills per set to the offense, while classmate Peyton Boyd tallies 2.58 kills per set.
> Sophomore Tyler Lindgren is the primary setter, dishing out 9.19 assists/set.
> At the net, freshman Kayla Spells leads Temple with 0.90 blocks per set, while junior Baleigh Jean-Philippe contributes 0.72 per frame.
> Defensively, junior Averi Salvador tops the Owls with 4.91 digs per set.
> Temple's offense hits .222, while the Owls are holding opponents to a .193 attack, third in the league.
> Individually, Salvador ranks third in the conference in digs per set while Lindgren is fourth in assists per set.
SCOUTING SMU
> SMU is 11-5 overall, including a 4-2 mark in conference play. Since dropping their first two games to start the AAC schedule, the Mustangs have won four in a row.
> SMU is coming off of a 2-0 weekend, with a 3-1 win over Memphis at home and a 3-1 win over USF on the road.
> The Mustangs have three players averaging more than three kills per set, led by Hannah Jacobs who averages 3.47 per frame.
> Mekenzi Heckmann tallies 3.32 kills per set, while Rachel Woulfe adds 3.32 per frame to aid the offense.
> Lily Heim dishes out 11.49 assists per set, ranking her second in the American Athletic Conference.
> Defensively, Montana Watts leads SMU with 4.52 digs per set, while Heim contributes 2.97.
> At the net, Meryn Kennedy (0.95 blocks/set) and Kaylyn Winkler (0.94 blocks/set) lead the Mustangs.
> The Mustangs are fourth in the league with a .268 attack.

> Temple is 7-6 all-time against SMU. The Mustangs won their only meeting last season, a 3-0 sweep in Dallas, Texas.
SCOUTING MEMPHIS
> Memphis is 11-7 overall, but is winless in the American at 0-6.
> The Tigers won their first 11 games of the season, but haven't won since Sept. 20.
> Memphis is coming off a pair of losses on the road last weekend, falling 3-1 at SMU and 3-0 at UCF.
> The Tigers are led by Hannah Flowers (3.34 kills/set) and Meredith Wallace (3.26 kills/set), with Flowers leading the team and the conference with 37 total service aces.
> Sabrina Bianco is the primary setter, coralling 10.17 assists per set, which ranks third in the conference.
> On defense, Kaitlyn Gehler leads the team with 3.92 digs per frame, while Mia Migliore adds 3.03 per set.
