Women’s Cross Country Heads to Penn State for National Open

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple University women's cross country team will race Friday, Oct. 18 at the Penn State National Open in State College, Pa. The Owls will toe the start line at 10:45 a.m. for the 6K competition.
About the Penn State National Open
> The Blue and White Courses are home to the Nittany Lions men's and women's golf teams, along with being the home site for Penn State's cross country meets.
> A total of 25 teams will be competing in the women's 6K. Each program is allowed a maximum of 12 runners.
> The last time the Owls raced in the Penn State National Open was Oct. 11, 2014.

> "Our ladies have been working very hard over the last few months and I'm looking forward to seeing how we compete against a nationally competitive field on Friday," commented head coach James Snyder. "This fall we've focused on running a lot of longer, more continuous sessions, which have allowed this group to become stronger than ever. We return to a course where we had a breakthrough race a year ago at Regionals and will look to have a similar effort this weekend."
Last Time Out
> The Owls last raced on Sept. 28 at the Buckeye Preview in Columbus, Ohio where the finished seventh out of 12 teams.
> Senior Grace Moore, who passed 10 to 15 runners down the stretch, led the Owls with a 27th place showing in a time of 21:48.7.
> Senior Millie Howard, who ran through 30 runners over the final 3,000 meters, was next for the Cherry and White, finishing 38th overall with a time of 22:04.9.
> Junior Michelle Joyce also placed in the Top 50 overall, finishing 47th in a time of 22:14.0.
> Senior Erinn Stenman-Fahey (89th, 23:06.9) and sophomore Lexi Walsh (96th, 23:22.2) rounded out the Owls' scorers in the meet.
