PHILADELPHIA -- Junior Mia Davis has been named to the 2020 Cheryl Miller Award watch list, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Wednesday afternoon.

The annual award in its third year recognizes the top small forwards in Women's NCAA Division I college basketball and named in honor of three-time Naismith Player of the Year, Cheryl Miller.

Last week, Davis earned a unanimous selection to the American Athletic Conference Preseason First Team. The Baltimore, Md. native averaged 18.9 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game to lead the Owls during the 2018-19 season. Davis completed her sophomore campaign with 28 double-digit games, including 13 games with more than 20 points. She scored a career-best 33 points while tying her career-high 17 rebounds during a conference win over Houston. Davis boasts a total of 12 double-doubles as she enters her third season in the Cherry and White.

The last time a Temple women's basketball player was named to a WBCA Watch List was in 2017 when Feyonda Fitzgerald earned a spot on the midseason watch list for the Ann Meyer's Drysdale Women's National Player of the Year award.

The selection committee for the Cheryl Miller Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers. New to the award this season is Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2020 Cheryl Miller Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. Miller and the Hall of Fame's selection committee.

The winner of the 2020 Cheryl Miller Award will be presented at the College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy's in Los Angeles, Calif. on Friday, April 10, 2020 along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award, the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard Award, the Katrina McClain Power Forward Award, and the Lisa Leslie Center Award.

Previous winners of the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award include Bridget Carleton of Iowa State (2019) and Gabby Williams of Connecticut (2018).
