Dawson Anders Named Temple Golf Captain
10.25.19 | Men's Golf
PHILADELPHIA - Temple University golf coach Brian Quinn has announced that junior Dawson Anders will serve as the team captain for the 2019-20 season. Â
"Dawson is an incredibly talented golfer with great competitive fire," said Quinn, who is in his 13th season as the helm of the program. "Most importantly Dawson is a fine young man and a great leader. He leads by example, showing a great work ethic both in the classroom and on the golf course."
Anders, who became the first Owl golfer to qualify for the US Amateur in five years, currently is second on the team with a 73.9 stroke average. He shot a collegiate best round at the Firestone Invitational, a five-under 67, and also made his first hole-in-one as a Temple Owl that day.
"It is definitely a great honor and something I am very proud of," said Anders on being named captain.  "I have put a lot of time and effort into this team over the last two years. I started out playing as a freshman and then not playing as a sophomore. So I have seen both sides to this team. I feel I bring a lot to the table to that can help our guys."
The Owls next compete at the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook on Oct. 28-29.
