Women’s Cross Country Set to Race at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals

11.14.19 | Women's Cross Country

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple University women's cross country team will head to Lehigh University on Friday, Nov. 15th for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. The women will compete in a 6K race, set for an 11 a.m. start at Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.

About the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals
> The Goodman Campus Cross Country Course has four different course distances that navigate through cornfields, green space, wooded areas and campus scenery.
> Temple will compete against 30 other schools from throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
> The Cherry and White were ranked seventh in the latest regional poll while Penn State and Villanova sat atop the list.
> In 2018, Villanova won the regional race followed by Princeton and Penn State in second and third, respectively. The Owls finished the race in fourth-place with Grace Moore leading Temple with her 21st-place finish.

From the Coach
> "To be back in a position where we can finish fourth or higher, it's going to take a really special effort that I am confident that we can do, but it's going to take everything falling into place," commented head coach James Snyder. "We have a couple girls that are hunting for a spot to make the national meet and we're going after All-Region spots."
> "I think we can outperform our ranking going in and that is the ultimate goal, but I think if we're able to work well together and progress through the duration of the race and come forward like we did at the conference meet, I think we're going to be in a really good spot."

Last Time Out
> The Owls finished third overall at the American Athletic Conference championships in Memphis, Tenn. on Nov. 1st.
> Moore raced to her best conference championship finish to earn All-Conference status for the first time in her career.
> Michelle Joyce also garnered All-Conference recognition as the junior finished 15th with her time of 21:15.0.
> Millie Howard finished right on the bubble of the top-15, trailing Joyce by four second to finish 16th overall.
> Helene Gottlieb finished fourth in the Cherry and White, crossing the finish line at 21:26.8 for 19th overall.
> Rounding out the top-five for the Owls was Erinn Stenman-Fahey, who was 28th overall with her time of 21:44.2.
