Women’s Basketball Hosts Duquesne Friday Night

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team welcomes Duquesne University to McGonigle Hall on Friday, Nov. 8 for a 7 p.m. start.
THE OWLS
> Temple starts the season 1-0 following a win over Fairfield on Tuesday evening.
> The Owls finished 11-19 a year ago, with a 7-9 record in the American.
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones returns to the floor after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. The Philadelphia native joins a talented and more experienced squad for the 2019-20 season.
> Junior captain Mia Davis has earned preseason nods, including a unanimous selection to the American Athletic Conference Preseason First Team and being named to the 2020 Cheryl Miller Award Watch List for small forwards. Davis registered her 13th career double-double in Tuesday night's victory with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
> Sophomore Marissa Mackins returns following a solid rookie year. Mackins knocked down a career-best six three-pointers in the home opener to finish with 20 points.
> Also returning for the Owls are strong post players Alexa Williamson and Shannen Atkinson. The two combined for 18 points and 12 rebounds against Fairfield.

> Duquesne shot 42.9% from the floor while registering a 52.6% three-point shooting percentage.
> Amanda Kalin and Laia Sole both led the Dukes with 14 points apiece.
> Amaya Hamilton led all players in the rebounding column with 10.
> Duquesne scored the majority of their points down low, racking up 40 points in the paint.
