Offense on Fire as Men's Basketball Downs Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA - In its second Big 5 game of the season, the Temple men's basketball team defeated Saint Joseph's, 108-61, Tuesday night. With the win the Owls improved to 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in Big 5 play.
The victory was the first 100-point game for Temple since 2013 and the 20th in program history. it was the most points Temple has scored since defeating St. Bonaventure, 109-70, in 2007 and just one point shy of tying the record for most points scored at the Liacouras Center.
Game Summary
> Temple's defense came up big, holding Saint Joseph's to 31 percent from the field.

> Five Owls scored in the double digits, with sophomore Jake Forrester leading at 17 points. Quinton Rose scored 12, going 8-of-9 from the foul line, dishing six assists.

First Half

> Forrester made the first basket of the night, scoring his first of four dunks with just under 17 minutes on the clock.
> Temple quickly went ahead, holding the Hawks to 14-4 through the first seven minutes of the game. The Owls continued their run late in the first half, going up 27 points with under two minutes left on the clock.
> In its largest halftime lead of the season, Temple went to the locker room up 55-30.
> Temple shot 67 percent, sinking 21 jumpers and making four from behind the arc.
Second Half
> Temple opened the second half with a big run, going 13-0 in first five minutes.
> The Owls shot 58 percent, sinking four from behind the arc.
> Temple's largest lead of the season came with just 30 second left on the board, when the team led by 52.
