Men's Basketball Takes on Miami Tuesday at Barclays Center

BROOKLYN - Temple men's basketball will take on Miami Tuesday night in the nightcap of the 2019 Air Force Reserve Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational presented by Citi.  The game will tip off at 9:30 pm and be televised bt ESPNU.

Scouting the Owls
> Temple, under the direction of first-year head coach Aaron McKie, brings a 7-2 record into the 2019 Air Force Reserve Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational presented by Citi game against Miami.
> Senior guard Quinton Rose leads the Owls in scoring (14.7 ppg) and assists (33) and is third in steals (15).
> Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis tops Temple in rebounding (8.6 rpg), steals (21) and blocks (6) while ranking second in scoring (12.3 ppg) and assists (29). 
> Senior Alani Moore II (9.9 ppg) has more than doubled his offensive output from last year (4.1 ppg) while leading the team in three-pointers (21) and free throw percentage (.875).
> Rounding out the starting five are juniors J.P. Moorman II (5.9 ppg), who ranks second on the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg), and Justyn Hamilton (4.6 ppg).
> Sophomore Jake Forrester (8.8 ppg), who scored a game and career-high 17 points against Saint Joseph's, along with junior De'Vondre Perry (6.2 ppg) and redshirt junior Monty Scott (5.9 ppg) give Temple a boost off the bench.
>This will be the fifth meeting between Miami and Temple and the first since the Hurricanes knocked off the Owls, 60-57, at Madison Square Garden in the 2015 NIT Semifinals. The teams have split the previous four encounters.

SCOUTING MIAMI
> Miami is coached by Jim Larranaga, who earned his 650th win against Illinois, 81-79 on Dec. 2.  He is one of only 10 active D-1 coaches with 650 victories.
> The Hurricanes feature a balanced scoring attack with three players, Chris Lykes (14.8 ppg), DJ Vasiljevic (14.6 ppg) and Kameron McGusty (13.3 ppg), averaging double figures.
> Miami does not turn the ball over, averaging a mere 10.0 per game, and sports a +3.0 turnover margin. 

SERIES HISTORY
> Temple and Miami are meeting for the fifth time in program history with the series even at 2-2.
> Miami won the last meeting, also in New York, a 60-57 decision in the 2015 NIT Semifinals at Madison Square Garden.
> The Owls last win was a 73-56 victory at home on Nov. 27, 2005.
> Two seasons prior, the Hurricane won 72-66 on their home court on Dec. 20, 2003 as part of the Orange Bowl Classic.
> The first meeting between the teams was on Dec. 29, 1961. Temple won that game 85-67.

Barclays History
> Temple is 4-5 at the Barclays Center since the arena opened in 2012.
>  The Owls split two games at the arena last year, falling to VCU (51-57) and defeating Cal (76-59) in the Legends Classic. In 2016, the Owls upset both #25 Florida State and #19 West Virginia over Thanksgiving to win the NIT Season Tip-Off. Earlier that calendar year, the Owls lost an overtime heartbreaker to Iowa in the NCAA First Round on March 18, 2016.
> The previous season, Temple lost 74-54 to #4/3 Duke as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Nov. 21, 2014. The next day, Temple lost 57-50 to UNLV.
> On Dec. 21, 2013, Temple beat LIU Brooklyn in a rout, 101-65. The Owls' first game at the Barclays Center was a 79-74 loss to UMass in the Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals on March 15, 2013.
